Gv is still enjoying this book by Rick Warren, so I was anxious to see if she'd be as jazzed about this, when it arrived:

God's Great Love for You

I kind of feel like there are different classes of picture books out there.

Some are aimed at educating and are full of new information, some are focused at getting along with others and some are just simply what a perfect picture book should be: simple, flowing text and sumptuous illustrations -- the kind of book that everyone enjoys returning to again and again, just because it's so pleasant to experience.

This is one of those books.

I call them "coffee table" picture books, because they are the ones you want to leave sitting propped up on a shelf all the time -- the kind that you reach for when you want a great read-aloud, but aren't necessarily trying to push some themed agenda.

After all, isn't is always the perfect time to be reminded of God's great love for us?

The lyrical text conveys a simple message, but the whimsical illustrations capture a child's attention in ways beyond the words.

Gv and I were both completely captivated by the sweet little girl in this book!

This will be one of the standard books I turn to whenever I need a gift for a child. Its appeal easily reaches from birth throughout the years that picture books and read-alouds can be enjoyed.
